PURPOSELY POSITIONED
I know you are in a place you feel like you don't fit in. You feel like you have to remove parts of your personality to be accepted where you are. You feel like there are parts of your life that are void. You feel like a square peg trying to fit into a circular hole. It is uncomfortable! You are forced to live in a state of discomfort or conformity. It's a hard choice to decide what to do. Sometimes, you ask God, "Why would you put me somewhere I do not fit?" The reason is that God is more interested in your purpose than your comfort.
Sometimes the only way for us to reach our most significant potential is for God to put us in an awkward position. Growth doesn't feel good. Spiritual development combines stretching some parts of ourselves while shaving off parts of our old ideology.
God wouldn't toss a rose into a sunflower field by accident. You aren't in this season or this place because God didn't perfectly calculate every moment of your life, but he wants you to learn to grow in an unfamiliar/uncomfortable place. So what can you learn if you are a rose forever in a rose field? What is there to challenge you? What is calling you to come higher? What is changing the old mindsets you used to have?
You may feel too inadequate for the place God has you, and you're swallowed up under pressure, or you may be too big for the place you are and feel suffocated by the small minds keeping you boxed in. Either way, this is temporary, and it is intentional!
In my personal experience, God has put me in "small places" to make me shave down my pride, selfishness, and self-will. He has put me in a "big place" to make me rely on him and to stretch me beyond my old capacity.
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Look for the purpose in your position, and ask God to make you content during this season of discomfort. When I started CrossFit, everyone in the gym had this saying that made zero sense. They said, "You will get comfortable being uncomfortable." I thought, "Yea, right!" After about three months of pushing myself to discomfort daily, I no longer dreaded the high heart rate. I no longer got nervous before every workout because I knew I would barely be breathing by the end. I got comfortable being uncomfortable. Your body learns that you will survive the discomfort, and it becomes an accomplishment every day to get to the point of discomfort because that's the point of growth and improvement.
I dare say the same thing to you, "Get comfortable, being uncomfortable." Learn to trust God and embrace the discomfort as an opportunity to improve your spiritual stamina. You are positioned for a purpose! You can and will get through the awkwardness to the point of GREATNESS!
Keep praying, keep pushing, and keep trusting God!
Love,
Bek
